He Loves Them Too

Yesterday at church I had the privilege of listening to a married couple speak about their missionary work in Tanzania. Their motto was, “our journey begins where the road ends.” This lovely couple showed us a video documenting part of their travel. They had to cross rivers with crocodiles! They travel deep into the country where not many people travel too. There are many tribes that have never seen people outside of their own tribe and these people travel to these people to share the Gospel.

While traveling their vehicles would get stuck in mud or their vehicles could not even make it to certain areas because of the terrain. At one point in the video the missionaries and their team traveled by bicycle! Two hours by bicycle to a village and two hours back. The terrain was not the only struggles they faced. They had to deal with wildlife and the lack of good water. A gentleman in the video said they prayed their water filter worked because they ran out of water and had to use water from a river.

These people face so many obstacles to reach the people in these villages. Their heart is to tell them about Jesus. To tell them of the miracles He can do. To tell them about His love. How He loves them, the people of the villages. The people who have witch doctors. The people who have never seen a white person. The people who have never heard of this Jesus. The people He calls His children.

God has done many miracles for these missionaries. He has opened many doors for this couple to go out into the deepest areas of this country to show His love.

If God can reach people who are in the deepest darkest parts of the world then why do we feel He cannot reach us right where we are at?

I Will Rejoice In Him

The beginning of 2014 I set out goals I wanted to reach by the end of the year. One of the goals was to lose weight. I know pretty common among people. I set out to lose the weight I have gained over the years. I wish I could say the weight was from post-baby but it is not. I started gaining the weight when my youngest, my son, was five years old. At the time I had the mentality that I was young and my metabolism was in overdrive.

Less Means More

How many times does God show us what He wants us to do but we do not pay attention? How many times does a topic keep coming up around us and we think “wow, I have heard so much about this lately?” Maybe we need to realize it is God trying to get our attention. Within the past month He has done this with me; trying to get my attention on a certain topic.

No More App

With technology today, we have the ability to have the Bible at our fingertips. We have apps available to us that give us His Word. Most Bible apps allow us to highlight scriptures that speak to us or provide reading plans or even devotionals. Nowadays we should not have an excuse as to why we cannot read His Word. I have an app on my phone and it is very convenient. I can access the Bible no matter where I am and also search for certain scriptures. However, I do not use it to read anymore.

You Can Overcome

I recently started reading the book of Revelation.  I am only in chapter three and I cannot tell you how many times I have seen the word “overcome.”  I knew that God was trying to tell me something. What was He trying to say? I am not sure. One thing I am sure of is that He wants us to overcome.

The Storm Battles Within

I look out the window and I see snow blowing in all different directions. I can hear the wind howling outside. I get lost in the scene I see outside. A storm outside is brewing and showing just how powerful it can be.  I begin to think how many people face these same storms but the storms battle within.

Another Item Checked Off

Our quiet time with Him should be just with Him. We should not be rushing through our time or thinking about the laundry that needs to be thrown in the washer. We need to keep our full focus on Him during that time. Many of us take time each day to be with Him but are we truly with Him? Are we truly focused on Him?

Light Within the Darkness

Although I have not done a post about my blessings, my 1,000 gifts, in over a month does not mean I have not received any blessings. God has surrounded me with blessings. Each time I turn around a blessing has occurred. We all receive blessings every day. Some may be harder to find, but we receive them. Our days may seem dark but there is light within the darkness. We just have to find the light.

I Keep Moving Forward

As we are coming up to the end 2013 I have been reflecting on this past year. I had a list of goals I wanted to complete and looking back I am not sure I completed one of them. This year has been nothing like I expected. We have been through many trials this year but my word for the year is “forward.” This word has reminded me throughout the year that I just need to keep going forward. Keep my focus on Him and move forward.

You Are Not Perfect

When I saw this on Pinterest awhile back I thought, “yes this is perfect.”  I am a Christian, who can be a hypocrite, who does backslide, stumbles, and falls. However, God is with me and molding me each step of the way. Each time I fall, He picks me right back up. He shows me areas I need to fix. He does not have me walk in this world alone. I need Him because I am not perfect and neither are you.

Who Is In Charge Of Your Schedule?

The last two weeks have been somewhat chaotic in my home. My family and I are trying to get settled into our new season of life; mom working outside the home, hubby working a second job, and still homeschooling the two blessings. Our days seem to run together and our schedule holds little time for fun. However, our schedule is not controlled by us, but by Him.

The Blessings Are Clear

How do I explain what has gone on in my life in the last two weeks? My head is stirring with so many different thoughts and as I try to type it all out it becomes jumbled and confusing. I have a hard time trying to understand what I am trying to say. I type, then delete. I type and delete again. The process continues for 45 minutes. Finally, I decide just to list my blessings. God has done so much to me this past week words cannot express what has occurred. One thing I can say is I choose happiness.

Just Humility

Days occur where it is hard to find the blessings. Weeks occur where it is hard to find the blessings. Struggles keep arising. You wonder when they will stop. Your faith is beginning to fade and the enemy is whispering in your ear. You enter into a battle. A battle of holding on and waiting. Waiting on Him. Waiting on His works.

It's Time To Let Go

Last week I read an article by Crystal over at Money Saving Mom about less smartphones and more communication. Many of us have probably seen many articles speaking on this very topic; the smartphone and our time is consumed by it because we allow it. I know that I have an ultimate connection to my phone. I can check my email, use it as a GPS, check Facebook, update my Facebook page for my blog, take photos, play games; money saving apps are on my phone, phone calls, and text messages.

The Voices of Worship

I stand in church with my family and sing the songs our worship team is leading. I bow my head and take in the words being said. I listen to the voices. The sounds of my church family surrounding me and worshipping Him. Sometimes if I listen really hard I can hear the little children lifting up their angel like voices. At that very moment all is well. All my stress and fears are gone. I feel the peace wrapping around me.

Time To Regroup

Six days a week we have something scheduled that takes us away from home. It either is football, church, or leading a Dave Ramsey class. Now normally this is okay and I do not mind being out of the house especially with winter approaching we need to embrace the warmer weather right now. However, adding everything else into our schedule can be overwhelming. Besides these activities we need to add in homeschool, chores around the house, my schooling, and then hubby’s work.

Sometimes We May Stand Alone

Many of us feel God calling us to do His works such as working the church nursery, or making cookies for the neighbor, or praying with a friend who is struggling. Then there are times where God calls us to do things that take a step leap of faith. Things that people may think of you as crazy or they may not agree with you. I am sure we all have experienced this.

A Week of Financial Blessings

This past year has definitely been difficult for us. One area that has been hit hard was our finances. Traveling for funerals, our bathroom flooded, caring for family members who lived with us, dentist bills, and all the other daily living expenses played a large role in our struggles. I began to wonder if we would ever recover.

I Have No Words

God is so good!
That is all I have today.
God is so good!
I don’t know about you but some days I just have no words and my heart is full of joy.
I continue to be amazed by His blessings…

Showing Me His Works

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31, 33
