Nearly Perfect

When my little man was about one month old I found a spot on his eye. I brought him to the doctor who then referred us to a pediatric eye doctor. The eye doctor told hubby and I our little man was born with a congenital cataract. The first year of little man’s life was spent at the pediatrician (for other health issues) and the eye doctor.

The praise was little man did not need surgery. The eye doctor explained to us that he was born with a spot on his lens. Basically it is when you look through a camera and there is a spot on the lens. You can see around the spot but you cannot see through the spot. That is exactly what our little man sees. He can see the world around him, he just cannot see through the spot. Once he became older he was to visit the eye doctor every six months to ensure that the cataract was not growing and no glaucoma was forming.

I have to be honest here. I have been a bad parent because I have not taken little man to the eye doctor since late 2011, which is right before we left Alaska. His last appointment all went well. Once we moved to Wisconsin it was one of those I need to make him an appointment but just never did.

Today, he has had his first eye appointment in a little over a year and a half.  I was nervous but I was praying. God definitely had His hand in this. Little man has nearly perfect vision, the cataract has not grown, and no glaucoma has started forming. God is so good!

By the way, his next eye appointment for next year is already scheduled.
