Lord, how can I help?

I watch hubby arrive home from work and can just see the pain he is dealing with. The new job is very physical and it takes such a toll on his already beaten body. Serving 23 years in the Army can do that to a person. However, each day hubby works; he awakes without complaints and goes to work. We are truly blessed that God has given us this job. We know that it could be worse and truly thank Him for this job. As I pay our bills I see Him providing exactly what we need. We never go without. I know that we need to bring in more income though. Hubby needs some relief knowing that this is not all on his shoulders. I begin to pray.

“Lord, thank you for this blessing of a job you have given us. Yes, we make way less than we did in the Army, but You continue to send us exactly what we need and I thank you. Lord, I know we need to increase our income and I am asking You how we do that. I know you are still calling me to homeschool, so how do I work and do this? Lord, hubby cannot get a second job. His body cannot handle that and with his hours he could not work a second a job. What do we do?”

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18

Oh Lord, how I want to help my husband! I know you called me to be his wife so I can help him. Please show me how I can help.

For over a year I have tried to get a part-time job working around our homeschool. Each place I applied at I received no feedback. No phone call for an interview. Nothing. The doors are shut. He shows us I am not to work. I continue to pray. People have suggested selling kitchen products or certain air fragrance products. I do not want to sell products because I am naturally not one who can do that. Trust me I have tried. It is not for me. I know He has a plan for us.

Now with hubby possibly having another surgery we will be losing money as he is recovering. I continue to pray. “Lord, what do we do?”

Saturday afternoon I decide I just need to sit down at the computer and fill out applications for the local stores in my area. Maybe this year someone will call me and offer me a position. I begin to fill out one application when I feel I need to talk with a friend. A friend who has mentioned her mom’s company was looking for a person to fill a position. I ask her about the hours and what the job entails.

I prayed all weekend.

“Lord, what do you want me to do? I know if I work outside the home it could bring more stress than relief. Between homeschooling, my school, our extracurricular activities, and household chores I could easily become overwhelmed. Lord, help me!”

I decided I would wait on the Lord. I would wait to see what He says. I do not want to do this out of the flesh. I want His approval. Come Monday evening I receive an email from my friend’s mom asking me if I could call her so we could discuss this position.

I instantly knew then that God wanted me to pursue this job opportunity. So I did.

As of yesterday afternoon God blessed my family and I with a job. I have not worked outside the home in over seven years. It will take some getting used to but it will all work out. The job fits perfect for our family. When I say perfectly I mean perfectly. His timing is perfect. I can still homeschool the blessings AND we are still able to have our family days like we do now.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7
