Now
that hubby is retired we are pinching pennies like crazy. Do not be surprised
if you see a lot of beans and rice kind of dinners or ramen noodles kind of
nights on our menus. One area that we turned our focus on was our vehicles. We
wanted to lower our payments and the debt we owe on both of our vehicles. We
knew that Dave would say to pay cash for a car but we did not have the money
for that. We also discussed if we needed
a second car. After weighing our options, we decided the best thing to do
was to trade in our SUV. The way gas prices are right now we were hardly
driving it anyways. We took it to the dealership to see what we could get.
After
much discussion and finding the right car for us we made a deal. We traded our
SUV for a “new to us” car. Trading in our SUV to this little car allowed us to
knock out $11,000 of debt, lower our car insurance, saved $155 a month in a car
payment, and not to mention the gas money! When we left the dealership with our
“new to us” car I felt the world taken off our shoulders.
Along
with that we are able to put some money to our almost non-existent emergency
fund! I am so grateful that God opened the door for us. We do not know what God
has in store for us especially with hubby looking for a civilian job, but
knowing that we knocked out $11,000 worth of debt in one day allows us to
breathe a little easier.
