Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this:'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31

My Goal List for 2013
Happy New Year to my Neighbors!
Another year gone and another one beginning.
2012 was definitely interesting for my family and I. I am excited to see what God has in store for us for 2013. We will face struggles, trials, maybe loss, happiness, new life, and of course love. I know that His plans will be for the good and not to harm us. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Just like most people I have set goals for the new year. Of course just like most people I never complete my goals. I tend to last until the end of January and then I fizzle out. Just like last year and the year before that and the year before that and so on. I always have good intentions, but never follow through. For 2013 I wanted it to be different. I NEED it to be different.
I started thinking a couple weeks ago about the goals I wanted to set for 2013 and started asking myself "what causes me to fail?" Before I began to even write down my goals, I needed to figure out what I needed to do to set myself up for success, not failure. I began to pray. I was asking Him to show me. To show me where I needed to improve and what I needed to do to complete my goals.
I needed more of Him.
But of course! Each year I plan goals for the new year I never invite Him to help. Last year I said I was going to read the Bible in 90 days for a second time. Did I complete it? No. Why? Because I did not make time for Him. I did not make it a priority. I still had my Bible reading and prayer times, but I know I can do better.
So this year I am making HIM a priority. I want Him to know me. I want to know more about Him. I want a deeper relationship with Him.
I have listed my goals by different areas of my life. Over the next few days I will blog about what I am going to do to implement each goal into my life. So, today, just a listing of my goals.

Loved reading through your goals - and what a great truth!! How we need His help to accomplish anything.
ReplyDeleteYes we do. I fail each year because I think I can do it on my own. God has shown me many times that I cannot. He made it obvious to me this year that I NEED to put Him first. Blessings!
DeleteAwesome set of goals, I may even steal some :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lyndsay! Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to steal some...lol

It looks like you have set a number of lofty goals in many areas of your life! I look forward to watching you achieve them this year.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny! Thank you for stopping by. I did set a lot of goals, but I am allowing Him to guide me through each goal. I found that writing them out and explaining how I was going to achieve them helps make a "road map" to success.
