So our wonderful trip is over and now back to reality. My to do list is a mile long and I feel like I have little time to get it done. Most of it will be crossed off by this weekend with my hubby's help but there is still much to do. My main concern is the blessing's curriculum for next year. I have decided to change our curriculum and try something new.
Here in Alaska you may use a state-funded program that pretty much pays you an allotment to homeschool. I have used it for about a year and half and decided it is not for us. So next school year there will be many changes happening around here.
I will be re-doing our schoolroom and adding some more storage and organization. Oh how I wish we had an IKEA!
I love planning for the new school year. I get so excited when we receive our school items in the mail; almost like a kid in a candy store!

I have loved homeschooling our first year. We are using My Father's World in hopes for a smooth transition into Tapestry of Grace when she is older. It's been fun! Thinking of you during the upcoming deployment. We are almost done with ours here and I'm so thankful!

We are going to use My Father's World next year. I wanted to use it this year but then my son and daughter would have been on different levels. Did you like MFW?

I realized that might have sounded odd..I meant to say that I plan, see soemthing that needs changed, plan, they use up something I thought would take a year, plan so more, don't like it, plan some more....you get the picture.
ReplyDeleteThere are just so many awesome curriculum materials out there, it is often hard to choose. We mix and match, and I do a lot of mom created things as well. We use a little Abeka, a little Horizons, and little Spectrum, a lot of Charlotte Mason "type" books (though not on her list), and a lot of "unschooling:.
ugh...I typed that with a 2 year old in my lap...sorry for all the gross mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI've home schooled my 2 for 4 years, and we take on a year to year basis. I actually have a Chaplain friend up in Alaska that home schools. My husband is always saying he would LOVE to get stationed up there, because he lived there twice as a kid. I'm not sure how I'd like it, since we've been here in the south for almost 7 years, but I hear that home schooling up there is so easy.
