Sammy the Turtle

Hip Homeschool Hop Button

I remember before I had children that my house would never turn into a zoo, literally.  I did not want pets.  I would make sure that we would never have pets.  I thought that pets would make your house smell, some animals shed, and some animals are just yucky. (I am not going to remind you that we have a dog, a cat, and a fish).

On that note, I would like to introduce you to our new classroom pet *sigh*

Sammy

I do not know what I was thinking when I suggested agreed to getting a turtle, probably because he was free and came with all of his items needed to survive.  However, we have had Sammy for a week now, and the kids are learning so much about him and his habitat.  See I knew there would be a homeschool lesson in this!

  1. We were always hesitant to have indoor pets, too, although we got a cat when our daughter was 12. She took great care of it and learned a lot. When our daughter moved to England, the cat couldn't move with her. Now we'd hate to give up our cat - wonderful company for us empty nesters! Visiting from HHH! Deb @ LivingMontessoriNow.com

  2. Hahahaha, that is awesome! You sound like me! When my husband deployed the first time, I suggested, or agreed to getting a 'fancy' rat. Who would do that?! That same year we got a dog and a cat too, lol. Enjoy your turtle, and awesome job finding the educational value in all of it ;)
