Let's Try This Again

Remember last year for my New Year Goals of 2010, we were going to become debt free? Or at least try? I went back to last year posts and notice I only wrote one update post because after one month we fell flat on our face.

Well, this year is going to be different. I promise this time it will be.  I noticed last year we really did not feel we were holding each other accountable.  Something would come up and we would be like "well, this is important," when really it was not.

The hubby and I decided that we are going to start the road of becoming debt-free again this year.  There are some little changes that are in place that will set us up for success.  One change is Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will be starting at our church next month.  This will be a great accountability tool for us!

Since hubby is deploying he is able to use the Soldier/Sailor Act which is where the credit companies lower the APR's on our credit cards.  Hubby has already made the calls and the changes will be taking effect.  This one step will help us greatly!

We have completed step one of Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover which is having our baby emergency fund funded.

I know that we will not be completely debt free when the hubby arrives home from deployment, but I do know that we will put a good dent into our debt.

So, here we go.....

  1. We had that class at church as well.

    Debt makes my tummy hurt.

It will take us a few years...college/grad school debt while having babies...but that is our goal as well, and one reason why I agreed with my crazy husband to do a DITY move on this PCS. I keep telling myself that every box I pack is $$ to pay something off.
