My List of Books

LifeasMom is hosting a book club for 2010.  The idea is for us to read our own books, books that have an interest to us.  Then we are to write what we read, such as a review, if we liked it, if it was okay, or just down right boring.  I am looking forward to this because I LOVE to read.

If I could I would grab a book and read all day until the book was finished.  But of course as a stay at home, homeschooling momma, we know that won't happen.  I do love to read and I love that my children see  my passion for it.  My daughter also has a passion for reading, she can grab a book and you won't hear a word out of her until the book is done or has read a good amount of the book.  My son, well, not so much but I pray he will get there. He is just five years old and we are still working on his reading, but I hope overtime he will also have a passion for reading.

I went to the library today to pick out some books, and chose a few.  I know I won't read all of them but they interested me enough to take home and skim through.  If they interest me then I will renew them, if not they will be returned.  Ahhh how I love the library!  Also, I have some re-reads that I would like to go back too.

So, here is my list:

Of course my number one choice is my Bible.  I have not read the entire Bible and this year it is one of my goals.  I plan on reading that everyday with my reading plan and also just to be with God.

Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano

The Eco-Foods Guide by Cynthia Barstow

The Organic Food Shoppers Guide by Jeff Cox

Buying Organic By Luddene Perry and Dan Schultz

Staying Well in a Toxic World by Lynn Lawson

Green This: Greening your cleaning by Deirdre Imus

Get Out of the Pit by Beth Moore

Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer

Preparing Your Daughter For Every Woman's Battle by Shannon Ethridge ( I started this a few months back planning on finishing it).

My re-reads are:
The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

Passionate Housewives Desperate for God by Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald

Frugal Living for Dummies (yes, I know but it has some great frugal tips included)

The subjects that I will be reading on will be green living, organic foods, homemaking, spiritual life, homeschooling, financial and some fun reads also.  I plan on adding to this list, and each month I will post what I thought about the book.  I plan on reading two books a month, of course depending on length.

Please feel free to join us, we would love to have you!  What books do you plan on reading this year? Please feel free to leave a comment. If you have any book suggestions I would love to hear them!

  1. Great list! Deirdre Imus has a couple of other books, one is on raising children 'green'. Very informative. Gorgeously Green is also good, and by some standards, more accessible to the everyday greening approach. The two I'm reading right now that might interest you are: Poisoned Profits, by Phillip and Alice Shabecoff, and The Body Toxic, by Nena Baker. Eye-opening, to say the least! ;)

  2. Ah, books. I remember those! I did read Greening your Cleaning - a lot of good tips. And of course I have read Dave's book and love it! My number one choice (which I try to find time to read - almost - everyday) is the Bible. I highly recommend it! :) Beyond the Bible, I just feel like I don't have a lot of extra time right now. I do, however, want to read My Sister's Keeper...
