One of my favorite parts of having a yard sale is the people I meet. I have met some wonderful people, and many of them have some fascinating stories. Yesterday an 80 year old woman came up to our sale and talked with us for about 30 minutes. First of all, this lady did not even look old enough to be 80 and second of all she made a statement that I cannot stop thinking about.
This woman who I will call "Sarah" told us that her and her husband had been married for 53 years before he passed away nine years ago. "Sarah" went on to tell me that they had only known each other for 10 days before they married and then he went off to fight in Vietnam. I could go on and on with some of the things she shared with the hubby and me but the one thing that stood out was this comment she made "Yeah when my husband was here I took advantage of him; I never realized how much he did for me or loved me until he was gone." My heart was aching for her and it was then a reality check for me. I asked myself "Do I take advantage of my husband?"
People quickly enter our life's and just as quickly leave but it is the footprints that they have left that really impact us. This wonderful lady has truly left an impact on me that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Have you had someone like "Sarah" leave a footprint in your life? I would love to hear about it?
Ah! So true!! I have to remind myself all the time that Tim does so much more for me than I even give him credit for. :) It's a daily challenge sometimes. I've had encounters like that as well, usually from someone that was only in my life for a very short while and I totally believe that God allowed our paths to cross just so I could learn something that he wanted me to know.
