PJs or No Pjs

Today over at The HomeSchool Village they are asking what we wear to school, make sure to stop by and visit with other homeschooling families.

My children ask almost every morning if they can wear their pajamas to school and every morning the answer is always no.  Trust me there are days where I would love too!  I feel motivated when I get up in the morning dressed and ready to go.  We have our morning routines which include chores, personal hygiene and getting dressed.  I feel that we can focus more and  be better prepared for the day.  Although a PJ day would be so lovely!

  1. I definitely do agree with you - the day is more productive when you dress up, get ready and kinda "separate" the school day from home activities. I used to work from home a couple of days a week when I lived in WA, and days when I was hanging out in my pj's at home were less productive than the ones when I really started the work day.

  2. Ahhhh, have a PJ day. Once in a while is good for the soul :). Drape a blanket over the dinning room table and do your studies under there (use a flashlight if you need to). Curl up on the couch with a big fluffy blanket and do reading. Bake something using only one measuring cup and one measuring spoon, that's your math studies-they/you have to figure out fractions. Then have a marshmallow fight, make smores in the microwave and talk about the science involved with that, and maybe end the day with an educational wildlife movie. :0) oh, what a day of learning!!!

  3. Hi Caressa~
Let me clarify. Most days we are dressed for the day. If we do not get dressed I can tell the difference in our motivation. Also, we do many things throughout the day that we do not sit at the table all day. We take nature walks for science, baking/cooking for math, board games for math, DVDS for social studies and sign language. We read books aloud in the living room cuddle together. Homeschooling offers so many opportunities that there are no limits. If the kids do well throughout the week for school, Fridays are our "play" days. We watch movies, play games, and little book work. The kids love this and they know that at the end of the week they will be rewarded for their hard work. You will be an awesome homeschooling momma ;)Thank you for commenting :)

  6. Sounds like a straightforward approach! Fortunately, my daughter is fine with getting out of the jammies - she likes to change 2-3 times a day at least...

  7. My mom used to tell me when I didn't feel good for a couple days in a row and I just lounged around the house, "Put on some clothes, comb your hair and put on a little makeup. You'll feel better."
    She was right!
Putting on clothes in the a.m. helps to put a little pep in your step!

  8. Yes, I need that shower to get me started and focused! My little guys know that it's time to be about our day when we get dressed. :) Blessings! Susan from The Homeschool Village

  9. Just stopping by to say hello! :) We do better with a morning routine as well, and being appropriately dressed is part of it.

  10. I do better dressed and ready too. My older daughter does as well, but my younger child has sensory issues and keeps focus better in her "comfy clothes." I'm learning to roll with it.
